Il Giardino del Leone
Il Giardino del Leone is a garden with a lion in it. Flowers of sapphire, tsavorite, spessartite, paraiba and ruby open across lockets, rings and earrings, each petal set by hand with a pod of gold granulation at its center. Among them a golden lion, engraved in Florence, keeps watch with orange sapphire eyes. He appears alone on the Temple Ring and the posts, holds a hoop of diamonds on the Cavallo earring, and rests in a meadow of gems beneath crystal on the Leonessa locket. He is joined by the elephant, the giraffe and the rhino, each in pavé diamonds, each hanging from a single flower. The garden is small, and everything in it is real.
